Webster – Delbert C. “Del” Monroe, 85, entered paradise and was reunited with his beloved wife on Monday April 18, 2022.
Del was born in Worcester, MA on April 7, 1937, son of the late John P. and Julia (Lauzier) Monroe; he graduated from Classical High School and entered the United States Marine Corp Reserves. For the past thirty years, Del was managing partner of the Sterling Hardware Group, an independent sales manufacturing representative agency where he represented as many as ten hardware manufacturers.
Del was a longtime and faithful member of the Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church where he served as a valued member of the parish council and festival committee. Del was also an usher and greeter; he truly appreciated the many friendships he made at church. Del, along with his wife Marie, was honored by His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios in 2018 for his years of faithful service to the church.
Del enjoyed trips with his wife Marie to Aruba, Ogunquit, ME, cruises to the Caribbean, and trips to Foxwoods. He also thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family at cookouts and gatherings. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and was fortunate to witness them win four championships, something he never thought he’d live to see. Del also loved his dogs, especially his last dog Carmen. He will be fondly remembered for his kind and generous nature. May his memory be eternal.
Being predeceased by his dear wife Marie who passed away on March 18th, Del is survived by his son Steve Monroe and his fiancé Sharon Powers of Princeton, MA; his daughters Lorrie Monroe of Lebanon, PA, and Kathy Bilis and her husband Arthur of Dudley, MA; his grandson David Bilis, and his granddaughter Kara Bilis, both of Dudley.
Del’s family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to his neighbor Ed Deary for maintaining Del and Marie’s home during his illness.
