Webster-Donald Philip Barry died on August 1st, 2015 at the Worcester Rehab and Health Center in Worcester, after a brief illness.    
Donald was predeceased by his wife of 48 years and his best friend, Ellen Gaynor Barry.    Don was also predeceased by his son Philip John Barry, his son-in-law Robert E. Melican and his brother John F. Barry. He also leaves his long time friend and companion Anna Routhier also of Webster.
Donald is survived by four children, Mary E. Melican of Worcester, MA, Anne Barry-Mullen of Mansfield, CT, Peter D. Barry and his wife Julie of Vancouver, WA and Mark G. Barry and his wife Sandra of North Bennington, VT, his sister Barbara Cattel and her husband Charles of West Hartford, CT and his sister Frances Barry, SSJ of Worcester, MA
Donald is also survived by his grandchildren, Brendan B. Melican of Worcester, MA, Brigid Mullen Richards of Hopedale, MA, Sarah Melican Mancinanti of Boston, MA, Patrick J. Mullen of Abilene, TX, Hannah Barry of Paris, France, Tyler Rice-Barre , Mark Barry of Vancouver, WA , Marlaina Skowron of Florida, Reese and Ava Skowron.    Great Grandchildren, Oliver Melican, Teagan Richards, Noah Mancinanti and Zoey Richards.
Donald graduated from St. Louis High School in 1943 and joined the Army Air Corps.   After training he was assigned to the 8th Air Force and a B-24 Bomb Squadron. He served in the European Theater until the end of World War II as a wing gunner on a B-24. Donald is the last surviving member of his flight crew.
Following his time in the service, he returned to Webster and graduated from Nichols College in 1947. While at Nichols, Donald had a very respectable baseball career and was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals. He chose a different path and married Ellen after graduation and began a career at Cranston Print Works in the Personnel Department. He remained at Cranston until his retirement.
Don was a member and past President of the Exchange Club of Webster, a past member of the Personnel Directors Association and remained an active member of the 93rd Bombardment Group.  
Donald will be remembered as a loving husband, a terrific father, a wonderful grandfather and great grandfather, best friend and a gentle, good man.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Robert E. Melican Scholarship Fund, c/o Business Office, Northborough School District, Northborough, MA.
The family would like to thank the staff at Worcester Rehab and Health Care for the wonderful care they gave Donald and the support they offered the family.
Calling hours will be held Friday, Aug. 7, 2015 from 8:30 AM- 9:45 AM in the Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School Street, Webster, MA, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Dudley, MA at 10 AM.  Military honors and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Dudley.  A guest book is available at www.shaw-majercik.com where you may post a condolence or a memory.
