Danielson, CT.- Dorothy A. (Viens) Cayen age 87 passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at the Hartford Hospital, Hartford, CT.  She leaves her daughters, MaryAnn Kirsipuu and her husband Paul of Voluntown, CT, Betty Anne Dvarcas of Danielson, Lee Ann Dusseault of Griswold and Carla Cayen-de Jong and her husband Robert of the Netherlands.  Dorothy also leaves grandchildren, LeeAnn, Vanessa, Selena and BruceLee, great grandchildren, Eva, Emma, Lilianna, and Elliot.  She also leaves sisters, Linda Marcy of Danielson, and Sandra Woodard of CA.  Dorothy had a brother and a sister that predeceased her, Raymond Lavoie of CA and Charlotte LaFramboise of Brooklyn, CT.

She was born in Brooklyn, CT, daughter of the late Wilfred Viens and Agnes (Gorman) Viens, having lived in the area most of her life.  Dorothy was a retired Certified Chef working for many years for the State of CT. Dorothy treasured time with her daughters, loved her grandchildren and adored her great grandchildren. She enjoyed bird watching and had a great love for animals. Dorothy loved spending time with her cat, Gracie and feeding her cheeky little backyard squirrels. She loved reading James Patterson books, watching TV, shopping and a good bargain. She was a character, funny and quick witted with a good sense of humor and a beautiful smile.  Dorothy was generous with her time and possessions, a true giver, and a great friend. She was well-traveled and enjoyed all her many trips exploring Europe. Dorothy is now together with her beloved dog Pepper and she will be deeply and dearly missed.  She was a member of the Westfield Congregational Church, Danielson, CT.  There are no calling hours. A Celebration of Life will be held May 17, 2023 at 10:30 AM in the Westfield Congregational Church, 210 Main Street, Danielson. Dorothy’s service will be streamed for family and friends via https://westfielducc.org. Please omit flowers and make donations in her memory to the Killingly Animal Shelter.  The Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, Webster, MA has been entrusted with her arrangements.  A guest book is available at www.shaw-majercik.com where you may post a condolence or light a candle.
