ABINGTON-Elizabeth B. Adams, 97, known to all as "Betty" or "Grandma", passed away peacefully on Feb. 5, 2017 surrounded by family.

She was born March 16,1919 in Putnam, CT and resided most of her life in Abington and was a member of Abington Congregational Church and Wolf Den Grange. She was predeceased by her husband, Oren P. Adams, Jr.

Betty was a loving and devoted mother, not only to her own children but to others as well. She enjoyed knitting and needlework, producing fine embroidery right until the end of her life. She had a wry sense of humor and left a lasting impression on all who met her.

She is survived by her son, James O. Adams and his wife, Aline (Lynn) of Brooklyn, CT; daughter Jane Garcia of Blairsville, GA; and daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Steve Gerling of Ashford, CT, with whom she resided for the past 19 years.  In addition she leaves the following grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Laurie Adams of Lebanon, CT and her children, Matthew and Ryan Blanch; Jamie Bergeron and husband Tom of Danielson, CT and her children, Jarred and Cassie Allen; Darren Eastman and wife Debbie of Hobe Sound, Fla; Kevin Eastman of Preston, CT; Alan Eastman and wife TD of Fishers Island, NY and their children, AJ and Jackson; Katrina Wingertsahn and husband Paul of Ball Ground, GA and their children, Gray and Audrey; and Robin Messier and husband Jay of Danielson, CT and their child, Holden.  She also leaves several beloved nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Mom loved her pets and it is her wish that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Connecticut Humane Society in Newington, CT. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.  The family also wishes to thank Westview Rehab and Nursing Center in Killingly, CT for their kind and loving care of our Mother.
