Gertrude A. Daigneault Foisy, 98, of Christopher Heights in Webster, MA., passed away peacefully, Monday, February 5, 2024, with her daughter and grandson by her side. She leaves a daughter, Madeleine Vega of E. Falmouth, grandson Desi Vega, his wife Darnell and great grandsons Benjamin and Braeden Lapointe of Charlton.
She leaves two sisters Vivian Gagnon of Cumberland, RI, Jennine Laroche and her husband Larry from Lincoln RI and cousin Claire Foisy Huckins of Oxford. She leaves many nieces and nephews.
Gertrude is predeceased by her husband Bernard L. Foisy who passed away in 2011. Also sisters Pauline Poisson, Constance Gignac and Lucille Allard and brothers Robert, Arthur and Walter Daigneault and a brother-in-law Armand Foisy.
Gertrude was born in Cumberland, RI and lived most of her life in Oxford. She worked as a stitcher at Brown Shoe for many years. She loved playing bingo and crocheting. She enjoyed vacationing in Florida, Maine and RI.
Gertrude was a survivor of Spina Bifida and for those who knew her they would say she was always 10 steps ahead of everyone else. Even as she was going down that “long” hallway at Christopher Heights with those “beautiful” carpets and her “basket full of goodies” collected from there and Summit Eldercare. She gave everyone a chuckle.
Our family would like to say thank you to everyone at Christopher Heights and Summit Eldercare for making Gertrude’s remaining years of her life so comfortable and fun. Our last thank you to Webster Manor to all those that made her so comfortable during her final days. Graveside services will be held at a later date at the Bourne National Veterans Cemetery on Cape Cod.
The Shaw-Majercik has been entrusted with her arrangements. A guest book is available at www.shaw-majercik.com where you may post a condolence or light a candle.
