Gloria M. (Gallant) Cormier
1931-2026
Gloria M. (Gallant) Cormier
Gloria M. (Gallant) Cormier, 95, beloved wife of the late Ronald E. Cormier, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving daughters.
Born in Robichaud Office, New Brunswick, Canada, Gloria was the daughter of Albert and Vitaline (Melanson) Gallant. At the age of 14, Gloria entered the convent with the Little Sisters of the Holy Family, where she remained until the age of 24. During her years there, she lovingly cared for elderly sisters, students, and priests through her exceptional cooking and housekeeping.
After leaving the convent, Gloria worked for a year as a nanny before moving to Fitchburg, Massachusetts, where she accepted a position cooking and caring for the priests at Holy Rosary Rectory. Gloria was a lifelong member of Holy Rosary Parish, where she faithfully served as a Eucharistic Minister and dedicated countless hours to the parish’s annual bazaar, preparing many beloved French-Canadian dishes.
Gloria had a true gift for cooking and baking. She was especially known for her homemade bread, chicken pie, peanut butter fudge, and delicious dessert pies. She found great joy in bringing food to others, sewing aprons for the parish bazaar, and making clothing for children in Haiti. Gloria also loved traveling to Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré in Quebec and spending summers at her cottage in Cocagne, New Brunswick.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 57 years, Ronald E. Cormier; her sisters, Alma Melanson and Lillian Gallant; and her brothers, Ephrem, Ronald, and Camille Gallant.
Gloria leaves behind her five cherished children: Theresa Walker and her husband Richard of Gardner; Monique Haley and her husband Leonard of Athol; Jean Cormier of Gardner; Cecile Leufstedt and her husband Richard of Auburn; and Paul Cormier and his wife Karin of Winchendon. She was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her brother, Yvon Gallant and his wife Rollande of Fitchburg; her sister-in-law, Agnes Gallant of Gardner; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Gloria’s caregivers — Michele, Debbie, Krystal, Terry, Fern, Cheryl, Missy, Tammy, Christine, and Ginny — for the compassionate care and support they provided.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Funeral services for Gloria at Annunciation Parish on Saturday, May 30, at 12:30 p.m., followed by burial at Notre Dame Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church, one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Our Lady of the Holy Rosary School, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA 01440.
