Irene (Wedda) Jankowski

Dudley – Irene (Wedda) Jankowski passed away on Sunday November 6, 2022 at the age of 95 at the Landmark Hospital in Woonsocket, RI after being stricken ill.

Irene was born in Webster, MA on April 23, 1927, daughter of the late Roman and Agnes (Twardzik) Wedda; she worked as the secretary for the director of nursing at Harrington Memorial Hospital for many years prior to her retirement.

Irene was a kind and loving person who was always ready to offer a kind word or lend an ear to you; she had a unique patient wisdom about her.  Irene absolutely loved and cherished her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  In her younger years, Irene loved traveling to Europe and Hawaii with her late husband Carl; in later years, Carl and Irene would take long Sunday drives to New Hampshire; she also enjoyed taking family trips up to Maine and going to Foxwoods.  Irene was very active with the Polish Women’s Club and the PAV Auxiliary, serving as officers for both organizations.  Irene certainly had a sweet tooth, the candy dish never went empty, whether at her desk, or beside her while she sat and crocheted. Irene will be fondly remembered for her gentle nature and generous spirit.

Having been predeceased by her loving husband Carl Jankowski in 2018. Irene is survived by her three daughters: Christine LaRoche of Milford, Debra Jankowski of Dudley, and Carol Parks of North Grosvenordale, CT; she also leaves her grandson; four granddaughters and four great-granddaughters.  Irene was the last surviving member of her family, being predeceased by her three sisters and two brothers.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday November 12, 2022 at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph's  Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street Webster, MA.  In lieu of flowers,   please send a memorial contribution to St. Joseph's Basilica.
