Irvin A. Hamill Jr.
1933 – 2026
Irvin A. Hamill Jr., a man of immense spirit and dedication, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, at the age of 92.
Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, Irvin was the cherished son of Irvin A. Hamill Sr. and Gloria A. (Vincent) Hamill.
His life was a testament to resilience, strength, and the profound impact of unwavering commitment to family, community, and country. Irvin was a proud veteran, serving his beloved nation as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. His service was marked by courage and honor, traits that he carried with him throughout his life.
Irvin served as the President of Hamill Investment, where his leadership and foresight guided countless individuals toward financial stability and affordable living. He also worked at Webster Credit Union.
His entrepreneurial spirit led him to become a respected landlord, owning 76 rental apartment units in Worcester County, Massachusetts, where he provided shelter and support to many in the community.
Irvin's life was filled with love and adventure, shared with his beloved wife, Donaldine P. (Roos) Hamill, who preceded him in death in 2017. Together, they nurtured a family that became his greatest joy. He leaves behind a legacy of love in his daughter, Kelly J. Rukowski, and her fiancé, Rob Gard, of Palmer, Massachusetts, as well as his son, Peter G. Hamill, and his wife, Kelly, of Rye, New Hampshire. Irvin's influence and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of his cherished grandchildren, Jack and Maggie Hamill, who were the light of his later years.
A man of remarkable endurance, Irvin was an avid runner, participating in several marathons and maintaining a daily running routine of 7.5 miles around Hayden Pond in Dudley, Massachusetts. His dedication to fitness mirrored his approach to life—steadfast, disciplined, and inspiring to all who knew him. Irvin will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the many lives he touched throughout his journey.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at Saint Joseph's Church, 10 H Putnam Road Extension, Charlton, Massachusetts, on April 16, 2026, at 10:00 AM.
Those wishing to honor his memory are invited to make donations to Saint Joseph's Church.
Irvin leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and dedication. His life was a testament to the power of kindness, the strength of family bonds, and the enduring impact of a life well-lived. May his spirit continue to inspire those who knew him, and may he rest in peace, reunited with his beloved Donaldine (i.e. Toots).
