Putnam - Mr. James J. "Jimmy" Defazio Sr., age 59, husband of Cathy (Banfill) Defazio, died Friday, September 13, 2024, at the Backus Hospital in Norwich.
Jimmy was born in Worcester, MA, son of the late Peter and Doris (Paille) Defazio and lived in the Augusta-Waterville, Maine area for several years before moving to Putnam. He was a Certified Nursing Assistant, having worked most recently in Westborough, MA. Jimmy was a motorcycle enthusiast and was a member of the Massachusetts Chapter of the Distant Thunder motorcycle club.
Jimmy and Cathy were together for 38 years and would have celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary in October. In addition to his wife Cathy, Jimmy is survived by three sons, Devon Defazio of Maine, James “Jamie” Defazio Jr. of Brookfield and Andrew Tindell of Worcester; a daughter, Skyla Defazio of Putnam; a brother, Ira Estabrooks of Woodstock; a sister-in-law, Nancy Geoffrion of Putnam; four sisters, Donna Defazio of Worcester, Darlene Gary of Worcester, Michelle Gordon of Worcester and Lisa Morin-Skillern of North Carolina; two granddaughters, several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition, he leaves his close friend, Terry Demand of Canada.
At Jimmy’s request, there are no calling hours or funeral services planned. Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School Street, Webster has been entrusted with Jimmy's arrangements.
