Webster – Joseph William “Bill” Kirby, 90, passed away on Tuesday March 17, 2020 at the home he has lived in for eight-five years, surrounded by the love of his wife and his niece Lorraine.
Joe is survived by his wife Jane (Williams) Kirby with whom he has shared sixty-two years of marriage; his brother Daniel M. Kirby of Southampton; two sisters: Olive Williams, and Barbara Thomas both of FL; four nephews: Timothy Kirby of Oxford, John Thomas of NJ, Powell Thomas Jr. of FL, and Geoffrey Thomas of FL; four grandnephews: Patrick and Sean Kirby of Oxford, Jonathan Torrss of CT, and James Thomas of PA; two nieces: Lila Torrss of CT, and Barbara Doten of FL; five Godsons: Timothy Kirby of Oxford, Donald Roy Jr. of Webster, Michael Kozlowski of Dudley, Mark Chausee Jr. of Dudley, Anthony “Tony” Chausee of CA; Joe also leaves a very special person, Lorraine Chausse of Webster, his caregiver whom he loved like a daughter and has been like an angel on this earth. Joe was also blessed to have a special friend, Steve Bardy of Webster, they graduated together and have been friends for eighty-two years.
Joe was born in Worcester, MA on June 19, 1929, son of the late Daniel M. and Pelagia (Ksiazkiewicz) Kirby. Joe moved to Webster with his family when he was five years old and remained here all of his life, living in the family home; he graduated from Bartlett High School on June 19, 1947, his eighteenth birthday. Joe worked for the Webster DPW for forty years; Joe’s last position was operating the new transfer station in Webster from the first day it opened until his retirement.
Joe’s family wishes to extend their utmost appreciation for the care and support provided by the VNA of Southern Worcester County.
