Lisa Genest Obituary

The sweetest of souls was taken from us on the early morning of Sunday, November 10th.  Lisa passed away peacefully in her sleep.  She had a brief fight with cancer, it was so rapid, it did not give her time to fight.  She had been briefly hospitalized, but was coming home this week, and was set to start treatment.  Those close to her heart were able to be by her side, in her last days.

Lisa grew up in Brookfield, MA and attended Tantasqua High School, Class of 1969.  She then attended Assumption College, College of Great Falls, as well as Anna Maria College.  Lisa loved her work, having a long career at Catholic Charities from 1985 to 2017.

Lisa was predeceased by her parents, Wallace Pion and Elizabeth (Urisho) Pion.  She leaves behind her loving husband, Normand Genest of Southbridge, MA, celebrating their 53rd anniversary on November 5, 2024.   Lisa also leaves her son Aaron Genest, and grandson Colby Genest, both of Southbridge.  She also leaves her loving son, Justin Genest, daughter-in-law, Aiko Genest, grandson Noah Genest and granddaughter Misako Genest, all of Brookfield.  Lisa also leaves many cousins.

Lisa loved to travel, study genealogy and be with family.  She also had a love for her pets.  Her pup Henry, her four cats, and her grandpup Laya (who's blue eyes, she loved so much), will be missing her daily.

A dear friend of Lisa's, Cynthia Taberner, had recently passed.  Cynthia had left a beautiful message, all of which resonates deeply, but we will borrow her words "Love has no beginning, no end.  I hope that you will all feel my love when the wind blows, when someone gives to someone less fortunate than themselves, when you see the expanse of the ocean.  Life is so full, may you all open up to each moment."

A Celebration of Lisa's life will be held at a later date.  Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home of Webster has been entrusted with Lisa's arrangements.  A memorial guest book is available at www.shaw-majercik.com.
