Melissa Ann Merchant
1987 – 2025
Southbridge – Melissa Ann Merchant, age 38, beloved daughter, sister, aunt and granddaughter, died Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Milford Regional Hospital.
Melissa was born in Ware, MA, daughter of Richard Merchant and Lori (Derosier) Merchant. She was a personal care assistant for many years, having worked at Brookhaven Nursing Home and privately as well. She enjoyed crocheting (having made blankets for family and friends), cooking, teaching her nieces and nephews how to cook, music, bonfires with her friends and gardening. She loved children, especially her nieces and nephews, whom she thought of as her own.
Melissa is survived by her father, Richard Merchant and step-mother, Marie (Mattero) Merchant of Southbridge; by her mother, Lori (Derosier) Merchant of Southbridge and her companion, Scott Williams; by her paternal grandmother, Mary (Benoit) Merchant; her maternal grandmother, Alice (Casey) Derosier of Spencer; by her sister, Elizabeth Goddard of Southbridge; by two brothers, James Merchant and his wife Emily of Charlton, Zachary Merchant and his companion, Natalie Massey, of Dudley; by her loving nieces and nephews, Sarah Merchant, Bella Goddard, Emily Goddard, Corey Goddard, Jaxon Goddard, Anita Goddard, Delia Goddard and Isla Merchant; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Melissa’s family on Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 11 am to 1 pm in the Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home & Cremation, 48 School Street, Webster.
