North Grosvenordale-Paul H. Grenier, age 96, beloved husband of the late Geraldine M. (Blouin) Grenier, died on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at home surrounded by his family.
Paul was born on June 30, 1928, son of the late Bernard and Antoinette (Remillard) Grenier and lived in North Grosvenordale his entire life. Paul was a retired machinist, welder and metal fabricator, having worked for many years at Whitin Machine Works in Northbridge and later in life worked at Borden Candy. He was known as the man who could make it, if you needed it.
Paul proudly served his community and was the Fire Chief and E.M.T. at the Community Fire Department in North Grosvenordale for many years. Paul was a communicant of Saint Joseph Church in North Grosvenordale, where he served as a collector for 70 years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Putnam. He enjoyed traveling with his wife.
Paul is survived by his son, Paul B. Grenier of Putnam; his daughter, Jacqueline Oleszewski and her husband Paul of Woodstock Valley; his brother, Jean Grenier of North Grosvenordale; his sisters, Agnes Gaucher and Marge Lafontaine, both of Grosvenordale; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Paul was predeceased by two brothers, Andrew “Butch” Grenier and Aime Grenier, both of North Grosvenordale; and by a sister, Cecile Grenier, also of North Grosvenordale.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with Paul’s family at the Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main Street, North Grosvenordale on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm and also on Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 9:00 am to 9:45 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Joseph Church, 12 Main Street, North Grosvenordale. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery, North Grosvenordale. In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul’s memory can be made Hospice & Palliative Care of Northeastern CT, 23 South Main Street, Putnam, CT 06260. A memorial guest book is available at www.gilmanandvalade.com or shaw-majercik.com, where you may post a message of condolence, share a memory and/or light a candle in Paul’s memory. The Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home has been entrusted with Paul's arrangements.
