Raymond E. Grandone
1927 – 2024
Webster – Raymond E. Grandone, age 97, died Wednesday, December 24, 2024, at Webster Manor.
Raymond was born in Oxford, MA, son of the late Roscoe and Bertha L. (Stockwell) Grandone and lived in Webster. He was a graduate of Millbury High School and Roosevelt Aviation School. He was a proud World War II Veteran of the United States Navy.
Raymond was employed for 24 years at Remington Rand in Boston, MA, retiring in 1991. Additionally, Raymond worked at Associated Business in Wellesley and Executive Business Machines in Worcester. He was a life member and former membership chairman of the Singletary Rod and Gun Club. He was also a member of the United Church Christ Federated in Webster and served his church as a financial secretary. He was a former member of the West Sutton Men’s Club and coached youth basketball and baseball for many years. In his spare time, Raymond enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
Raymond was predeceased by his wife, Doris H. (Trombley) Grandone, who passed away on May 4, 2004. He is survived by his stepchildren, Barbara Blanchard of Worcester, VT and Bill Hamner of White River Junction, VT; his niece and nephew, Paula and Philip. He also leaves his close friends, Kevin P. McLaughlin and his wife Patricia. He was predeceased by his stepdaughter, Shirley Martin and by her brother, Richard Hamner; as well as his brother, R. Stanley Grandone.
Family and friends are invited to attend a calling hour for Raymond on Monday, December 30, 2024, from 10:00-11:00 am in the Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School Street, Webster. Burial, with military honors, will follow at 11:30 am in West Sutton Cemetery, Sutton, MA. A memorial guestbook is available at www.shaw-majercik.com
