Richard Batchelor Obituary

Richard “Dick” Batchelor. Dick passed on September 6,2022 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Worcester, MA. He was born January 20th 1938 in North Brookfield, the son of James and Madeline Batchelor.

He graduated from North Brookfield High School, class of 1956. Following he married his high school sweetheart, Fay Smith Batchelor on September 12, 1964. They celebrated 57 years together. He served the town of North Brookfield for 41 years. Along that time he served on the NB Fire Department, Highway Department, and part time Police Officer. He served in the Army National Guard. He also served as the president of the Spencer Fair Association for 3 years. He was an avid sports fan, gardener, and dedicated family man.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sister Rosemary Vik. Surviving in addition to his wife Fay Batchelor, are his sons Timothy and his, wife, Donna, of Connecticut; Todd and his, wife, Stephanie of Florida; five grandchildren Shauni, Ryan, Remington, Jaxson, and Drew; two great-grandchildren Emma and Grant; two brothers, Jimmy and his wife, Kay of Dallas, Texas; Marshall and his wife, Ann of Thompson Connecticut; one sister, Priscilla Cauvin of Barre Massachusetts; three brothers-in-law, Fred Smith and his wife, Ann-Marie of Barre; Donald Smith and his wife, Carol of North Brookfield; Robert Vik of New Hampshire; one sister-in-law Kathy Ridz and her husband, Don of  Monson; many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on September 30th at 11am for family and close friends. The location will be Walnut Grove Cemetery. Those who wish to remember Dick in a special way may make donations in his memory to the North Brookfield Fire Department or Ambulance Rescue Squad.
