Richard Rumrill Sr. Obituary

Richard Roy Rumrill Sr. (64 years old) passed away peacefully at his home, on his own terms, with family nearby, in the early morning hours of August 14, 2024. He was deeply grateful for the devoted and loving care of his sister-in-law Robin and his niece Amanda.

Richard, also known as “Dicky”, was born in Winchendon Massachusetts and grew up in the Webster area. He worked at the S & D spinning company and Anglo Fabrics, as a carder, for many years. He had a gift for all things mechanical and loved working on cars. He loved listening to his Dad play guitar and sing in his band at the Irish American Club in Putnam and other venues in the area.

Richard was fiercely protective of his family and had a knack for seeing through BS. He had a deep disdain for phony people – whom he referred to as “fancy pants people” who think they’re “all that and a bag of chips.”

Richard was the son of Robert Ray Rumrill, Sr. of Winchendon, Massachusetts, and Josephine Chase Rumrill of Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire. He spent his life as a loving son, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother, brother-in-law, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all. He was predeceased by his infant son Ryan Roy Rumrill, his mother Josephine, his older brother Robert Ray Rumrill, Jr., his younger brother Harold Frederick Rumrill, his step granddaughter Adryannia Latuga, and nephew’s wife Jennifer Cry-Rumrill.

Richard is survived by his father Robert Ray Rumrill Sr. and stepmother Mary Rumrill, and five sisters Julie, Renee, Angela, Robyn, and Courtney; maternal aunts Donna Grier and Harriet Quesnel; his ex-wife Janet Gadboies, son Richard Rumrill Jr.  and wife “Rosie” Andino, their children Jacob Tyler, Jonathan Russell, Jessie James, Jaysen Lee, and Jozeph Maxwell Rumrill-Andino;  son Jimmy Lee Rumrill and wife Catreena Rumrill, their children Coletin, Kylin, Jaxyn, and Josephine Rumrill, and Jacob Latuga; niece Amanda Vandal and her husband Raymond Vandal, their four children including son Stephen Southwell, Jr. and his two children; sister in law Robin Rumrill (widow of brother Harold), their children Harold T. and wife Jennifer (deceased) and their two children, Bryan and wife Samantha Rumrill and their four children, and Julie and Nathaniel Heath and their two children.

All are welcomed to gather, support the family, and Celebrate Dicky’s life, on Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 1pm to 5pm at the American Legion, 17 Route 200, Grosvenordale, Connecticut.  The Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School St., Webster, MA has been entrusted with his arrangements.  A guest book is available at www.shaw-majercik.com where you may post a condolence or light a candle.
