Fr. Damian:
Please accept my sincerest condolences as you mourn the loss of your father. I know you recall the words from the funeral canon in the Mass:
"...where he has gone; we, too, hope to follow." My prayers are with you and stay the great priest you are. The Veterans need you. Thanks for all you did for me when I was a patient in your hospital.

Sorry for the loss of my uncle Stanley. My father Zygmund and Stanley were roommates in the home on School St in Southbridge as boys. In the end of their lives they were roommates at Lanessa on School St in Webster. I find that comforting. Stanley will be missed. Love and condolences to the family.

Stanley taught me how to play golf, when he was in his early to mid 70s and I was in my early 50s. And he played with me and my son Scott at times. I enjoyed our time together on different courses for several years. Stan was a superb golfer and eventually I got much better at my game. I recall one time, on a "par 3" course Stan and I were tied on the 9th hole. I thought I might putt the ball in and beat Stan by one stroke. My ball was on the green and his was off the green. It was Stan's turn to strike the ball. He gently tapped the ball, it bounced up onto the green, and immediately went into the hole. Stan won. And I have to say that was the only time I got close to beating him at a round of golf. He never gloated he just played the game and had fun. I thank Stan for his patience and for teaching me the game . I remember him fondly when on the golf course. I'm glad I never beat him. He was too much a gentleman for me to actually want to do that. Thank-you Stan for teaching me a gentleman's way at playing golf. I know you will continue chipping off the green and dropping the ball into the hole.
