Stephen Desborough Obituary

Stephen Craig “Steve” Desborough

April 19, 1960 – June 8, 2025

Stephen Craig Desborough, lovingly known as Steve, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was 65 years old.

Born on April 19, 1960, in Redwood City, California, Steve was the beloved son of the late Jean and Donald Desborough. He grew up alongside his siblings, Sheri Peery and Sanford (“Sandy”) Desborough, sharing a childhood filled with love, laughter, and strong family ties.

Steve spent his life in the construction industry — a field he truly loved and took immense pride in. He built his career with skill, dedication, and integrity, and for a time, ran his own company, Built Wright Construction. His work was a reflection of who he was: solid, dependable, and done with care.

But beyond his craft, what truly defined Steve was his heart. He was a total goofball — always cracking jokes, pulling pranks, and making people laugh even in the hardest times. His sense of humor lit up every room he entered, and his laughter was unforgettable. He could make anyone smile, even when they didn’t think they could.

Steve never hesitated to step up for others, especially when he didn’t have to. He cared deeply for people — not out of obligation, but out of love and instinct. Whether family, friend, or someone in need, if you were in Steve’s life, you were taken care of.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Kori Desborough, and his daughters, Christine Desborough and Carli Desborough. Above all, Steve was a loving and proud grandfather to Arianna Thomas. From the time she was just one year old, Steve stepped into the role of father and raised her with endless love and dedication. Their bond was deep, meaningful, and filled with mutual respect and care — a testament to Steve’s generous heart and steady presence.

In his final years, Steve showed immeasurable strength as he bravely battled stage 4 lung cancer. Even through the pain, he never lost his sense of humor, his love for his family, or his determination to show up for the people he loved.

Those who knew Steve will remember his quiet strength, his silly jokes, his deep loyalty, and the way he made you feel safe just by being there. He was the kind of man who didn’t just talk about love — he lived it, every day.
