Wayne Johnson Obituary

Webster, MA - Wayne K. Johnson, born January 28, 1946, peacefully passed away January 20, 2024 surrounded by his family.

Wayne is survived by his devoted wife, Joyce Bartolomei Johnson, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and cherished memories. His daughter, Lauri Jankowski, and her husband Christopher of Webster, MA, his son, David Johnson and daughter-in-law Maryann of Plymouth, MA, and his son-in-law, Michael Sanders of Naples, FL, the husband of his late daughter Kelly Sanders, who passed away in 2019.

A family man at heart, Wayne was a proud and loving PopPop to seven grandchildren—Camryn, Matthew, and Nicholas Jankowski; Clayton and Gavin Sanders; and Valerie and Samantha Johnson. His grandchildren brought immeasurable joy to his life. They fondly remember fun times and adventures with PopPop.

Wayne is also survived by his sisters Linda Kwasniewski and Marsha Luksha, his sister in law Linda Bartolomei, brother in law Chris Bartolomei and wife Sandi. His parents, Evert & Elna Johnson, brother Gary Johnson, and sister Wendy Stawiecki preceded him in death. Wayne will be deeply missed by his many nieces and nephews.

Wayne is a graduate of Bartlett High School, Webster and Nichols College in Dudley. He served in Vietnam as a sergeant in the Army. Wayne was the owner/operator of Johnson Trucking Company.

Wayne's upbeat spirit and perpetual smile left a positive imprint on those around him. His family was top priority and he enjoyed days when he could teach and watch his kids and grandkids enjoy outdoor activities on the water, in the snow and on the sports fields. He cherished his times with family and friends including Vermont adventures, working in the barn, sharing laughs over card games and he never shied away from a good nap while listening to a sox game.

A special thank you to St. Vincent’s Hospital, Brigham & Women’s Hospital and Overlook Hospice services.
