Wilfred Racicot Obituary

Wilfred O. Racicot passed away peacefully to his eternal reward on April 4, 2023. A family man devoted to his parents, wife, children, and grandchildren; he was also happy to be a great-grandfather since 2022. "Willy O.", as he liked to be called, made many friends during his life, which include the caring staff and the residents at Davis Place in Danielson, CT. He was beloved by all who knew him as a man with a generous and cheerful heart. Born in Wauregan, CT on January 4, 1929, to the late Wilfred J. and Anna (née Plourde) Racicot, he graduated from Saint James Grammar School and Killingly High School, then served for two years in the United States Air Force. Wilfred O. married Jane (née Bissonnette) in 1952 and raised their five children in Dayville, CT. He worked for the Dayville Post Office for 38 years, and for most of that time served as Post Master. Afterwards, he worked a few years at a lumberyard mixing paint, then finally spent almost a decade as a Judicial Marshall at the Courthouse in Danielson, CT before retiring. In all his roles, personal and professional, he worked hard and loved helping people and making them happy. His dearly beloved wife, Jane, passed away December 17, 2015, after being happily married a little over 63 years. Wilfred O. is survived by his sister-in-law, Claire (née Bissonnette) Mondor, by his sister-in-law, Aida Bissonnette, and by all five of his children with their families: son, Glenn Racicot, and his wife Stella, with their two sons: Nicholas Racicot, and his fiancée, Ashley Ashelman; and Christopher Racicot, and his wife Elizabeth, with their son, Crue; son, Bruce Racicot; daughter, Celeste (née Racicot) de Sévigné, with her two daughters, Catherine de Sévigné and Elisabeth de Sévigné; son, James Racicot, and his wife Sandra; and son, Brian Racicot. He also leaves a family friend, Christophe Garet. A Requiem Mass will be held at the Saint James Church in Danielson, CT at 10 AM on Saturday, May 6, 2023. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetary in Danielson, CT. In lieu of flowers, Wilfred O.'s family requests that memorial contributions be made to Saint James School in Danielson, CT.
